The WRCS Hydraulics Software Suite
WRCS has collected over a dozen software programs that represent a wide cross-section of hydraulic modeling utilities developed for various applications in water resources engineering. These programs, and their User's Manuals and supplemental documentation files have been re-formatted on to one CD for easier installation and your convenience. Many of the programs have documentation in Adobe PDF format, which can be viewed with the Adobe Acrobat Reader, also included on the CD.
Here is a list of the software packages on the CD, as well as a brief description of each. Click on any program title in the following list to go to the description of that program:
CAP / CHAMP / CHECK-RAS / FAN / Flo2DH / HY-8 Culverts / Quick-2 / RASPLOT / RUNUP / WHAFIS / WRAS / WSPRO
CAP |
Culvert Analysis Program CAP follows USGS standardized procedures for computing flow through culverts. It can be used to develop stage-discharge relationships for culverts and to determine discharge through culverts from high water marks. It will compute flows for rectangular, circular, pipe arch, elliptical, and other nonstandard shaped culverts. |
CHAMP |
Coastal Hazard Analysis Modeling Program, Version 1.1 CHAMP is a program for performing coastal hazard assessments of fine-scale wave phenomena associated with hurricane storm surges or northeaster flooding effects. These methodologies include storm-induced erosion treatments, wave height analyses, and wave runup analyses. CHAMP allows the user to enter data, perform coastal engineering analyses, view and tabulate results, and chart summary information for each representative transect along a coastline within a user-friendly graphical interface. |
CHECK-RAS |
CHECK-RAS, Version 1.1, is a program designed to verify the validity of an assortment of parameters found in the HEC-RAS hydraulic modeling program. |
FAN |
FAN, produced by The Federal Emergency Management Agency (FEMA), aids in the evaluation and mapping of flood hazards on alluvial fans. |
Flo2DH |
Flo2DH, Release 3, is a two-dimensional finite element surface water computer program that can compute the direction of flow and water surface elevation in a horizontal plane. Flo2DH has the ability to model hydraulic structures commonly used by hydraulic engineers. |
HY-8 Culverts |
HY8 Culvert Analysis, version 6.1, This culvert analysis program automates the design methods described in the Federal Highways Administration (FHWA) publications HDS-5, "Hydraulic Design of Highway Culverts," HEC-14, "Hydraulic Design of Energy Dissipators for Culverts and Channels," and HEC-19, "Hydrology." |
Quick-2 |
Quick-2, Version 2.0, is the latest version of a hydraulic analysis program used to compute water-surface elevations in open channels of all types. |
RASPLOT |
RASPLOT, Version 2.1.0, produces plots from Corps of Engineers HEC-RAS program output files for use in FEMA Flood Insurance Studies. The program replaces FEMA's FISPLOT program. |
RUNUP |
RUNUP, Version 2.0, is a DOS-based program for wave runup computation. This program uses stillwater elevation, shore profile and roughness, and incident wave condition input information to compute a wave runup elevation that is consistent with the most detailed guidance currently available. |
WHAFIS |
Wave Height Analysis for Flood Insurance Studies, Version 3.0, is a DOS-based program that uses representative transects to compute wave crest elevations in a given study area. Transects are selected considering major topographic, vegetative, and cultural features. WHAFIS uses this and other input information to compute an appropriate depth-limited wave height at the seaward end of each transect. |
WRAS |
WRAS is a conversion program developed by the Natural Resources Conservation Service (NRCS) that takes existing WSP2 data sets and converts them in HEC-RAS format for import into HEC-RAS. |
WSPRO |
HY7 WSPRO (2001) is a water surface profile computation model that can be used to analyze one-dimensional, gradually-varied, steady flow in open channels. WSPRO can also be used to analyze flow through bridges and culverts, embankment overflow, and scour at bridges. |
