HEC-SSP - the U.S. Army Corps
of Engineers Statistical Software Package (HEC-SSP) developed by the
Hydrologic Engineering Center. This software replaces the old HEC-FFA program
and allows you to perform statistical
analyses of hydrologic data. The current version of HEC-SSP is limited to
performing flood flow frequency analysis based on Bulletin 17B, Guidelines for
Determining Flood Flow Frequency (1982). HEC-SSP is available as part of the
HEC StatsPack CD. For more details, see our and
HEC-SSP page.
HEC-ResSim Version 3.0 (HEC Reservoir System Simulation Program) - HEC-ResSim has been designed and developed by the Hydrologic Engineering Center of the U.S. Army Corps
of Engineers to perform Reservoir System Simulation. It is intended to meet the needs of real-time reservoir regulators for a decision support tool, as well as the needs of modelers doing reservoir
projects studies. As HEC’s newest “Next Generation” (NexGen) software package, HEC-ResSim is intended to eventually replace HEC-5 for performing reservoir operation modeling at one or more
reservoirs for a variety of operational goals and constraints.
The HEC-ResSim CD contains the program in its entirety, including example watersheds, and documentation (Installation Notes, Release Notes, Quick Start Guide and User's Manual) and is
available from WRCS for only $35. HEC-ResSim is also available as part of the HEC-Works CD (along with nine other HEC programs) for only $95. See our HEC-ResSim page for details.
HEC-DSS Vue, Version 1.2.10 (HEC Data Storage System Visual Utility Engine) -The U.S. Army Corps of Engineers’ Hydrologic Engineering Center Data Storage System, or
HEC-DSS, is a database system designed to efficiently store and retrieve scientific data that is typically sequential. Such data types include, but are not limited to, time series data, curve data,
spatial-oriented gridded data, and others. The system was designed to make it easy for users and application programs to retrieve and store data. HEC-DSS Vue is a graphical user interface program for
viewing, editing, and manipulating data in HEC-DSS database files. A sample DSS file and the HEC-DSS Vue User's Manual, in Adobe Acrobat PDF format, is included with the program. A “plug-in”
capability has been added to version 1.2 that includes a USGS data retrieval plug-in and a California Data Exchange Center (CDEC) data retrieval plug-in. See our HEC-DSSVue page for details.
The HEC-DSS Vue program is not available individually, but is included for FREE on any of the following CDs: WRCS H&H Software Suite, HEC-RAS, HEC-HMS, HEC-Combo Pack or HEC-Works

HYDROFLO 2
HYDROFLO for Windows is a powerful, graphical tool for the analysis of
fluid conveyance systems consisting of one source and one discharge and up to 10
pumps operating in parallel or series. HYDROFLO 2 allows a designer to "drag and
drop" pipes, pumps, fittings and valves into a design. It features a unique
vertical elevation work area. Pump stations, gravity flow, forced flow and
re-circulating systems can be solved for their steady-state pressures and flows.
To select the best pumps for your application, HYDROFLO 2 can launch PumpBase
and transfer operating point, project information and liquid property data with
a single click. For a more detailed description of the HYDROFLO 2 for Windows
program, go to our HYDROFLO web page.
Note: Each copy
of Hydroflo 2 includes a free PumpBase software License.
PumpBase (available individually) PumpBase can find the best pump for your application... Enter a system's TDH and desired flow and all the pumps that meet your requirements are
listed in order of efficiency. PumpBase includes a database of over a thousand curves from over 40 manufacturers. Once the pumped liquid's description is specified, standard centrifugal viscosity
corrections are automatically applied to all curves. NPSHA (Net Positive Suction Head Available) and system curve information can optionally be specified.
You can specify up to 40 additional selection criteria to narrow your search. Pump performance curves with iso-efficiency and iso-NPSHR (Net Positive Suction Head Available) lines are available and
the design and actual operating points are plotted along the system curve. Detailed reports are created that can be submitted to pump manufacturers or sales representatives for further application
verification and price quotes. Complete database editing is provided so that your own pump curves and liquid properties can be added. Custom versions of PumpBase have been developed for fluid handling
equipment manufacturers.
For more detailed information, go to our PumpBase page and download the free 30 day trial version.
NSS - The National Streamflow Statistics Program is
a computer program that should be useful to engineers, hydrologists, and others
for planning, management, and design applications. NSS compiles all current U.S.
Geological Survey (USGS) regional regression equations for estimating streamflow
statistics at ungaged sites in an easy-to-use interface that operates on
computers with Microsoft Windows operating systems. NSS expands on the
functionality of the USGS National Flood Frequency Program, and replaces it.
HEC-RPT The HEC's Regime Prescription Tool is designed to facilitate entry, viewing, and documentation of flow recommendations in real-time, public settings. HEC-RPT seeks to improve 1) communications in group settings by allowing real-time recording and plotting of the recommendations as they are developed and 2) the recommendations produced by making
hydrologic information more immediately accessible to scientists, engineers, and water managers during the formulation process.
HCALC hydraulic calculator for circular, full pipe, incompressible flow. You can solve for head loss, diameter, flow, pipe area, velocity, Reynolds number and
friction factor using the Darcy-Weisbach, Hazen-Williams or Manning's equations. You can also convert values between various common units of these parameters.
HEC-DSS MS Excel Data Exchange Add-In The HEC-DSS MS Excel Data Exchange Add-In is a Visual Basic application for retrieving and storing both
regular-interval time series and paired data directly from Excel to an HEC-DSS database file. Data sets to retrieve are selected from a catalog listing directly available from MS Excel. For time
series data, an optional time window can be specified to select portions of a DSS record or to span several records. The exchange of irregular-interval time series data has not been implemented at
this time.
LoggerDB LoggerDB is a database program specifically created to store and summarize time-series data from environmental data loggers.
It's great for stream gage stations because it has separate tables for rating curve entry, journals and offsets. It can be used for data loggers collecting information
such as stream flow, water depth, precipitation or various water/air quality parameters at a periodic time interval. LoggerDB is a stand-alone database program that saves files in the Microsoft Access
format (users will not need Access to run LoggerDB). Features include:
- One-step import of data logger download files (text files, fixed width or csv, data/time as one or two fields). Automatically removes duplicate records and header
information.
- Multi-channel capability, 99 channels maximum.
- Includes a separate table for calibration/offset data.
- Includes a separate table for rating curves to convert data from depth to discharge.
